Cadenza; an improvised solo Cadenza’s are small and stylish outdoor musical instruments for one player which immediately bring smiles to its players and listeners alike. Strong, weather-proof and durable, the Cadenza notes are arranged as a traditional xylophone or glockenspiel with low to high notes going from left to right. Built with individually mounted notes of aluminium, Ipe (see technical information) or GRP. Each of these materials gives a distinct sound when played. There are no wires or strings as the notes are individually and securely attached to the resonators for maximum vibration with incredible tones and resonance. The resonators are available in a number of different colours. The instrument is designed for ground installation, surface or wall mounted. Cadenza’s are tuned to the C Major pentatonic scale covering two octaves.
The curvaceous design is not just about looking stylish. The wave makes it easier for individuals with limited range of movement, or players in wheelchairs, to reach all of the notes. Each player is slightly offset from each other, making it useful for players with special needs who may find direct eye contact difficult.
Sansa – regional term for the African mbira or thumb piano.Rimba – from Marimba; xylophone of African origin. The Sansa-Rimba is a bright, stimulating and colourful music teaching resource and would be a great addition as school playground equipment. This outdoor musical instrument is a clever blend of two African instruments; the Sansa (thumb-piano) and a Marimba (xylophone). Using the pentatonic scale and spanning two octaves, the 15 notes of the Sansa-Rimba are arranged as a traditional thumb-piano with the scale ascending from the centre outwards. The Sansa-Rimba can be built with individual notes of aluminium, IPE or GRP. Each of these materials gives a distinct sound when played. There are no wires or strings as the notes are individually and securely attached to the resonators for maximum vibration with incredible tones and resonance. The resonators are available in a number of different colours. The instrument can be installed into the ground, surface mounted or fixed to the wall.
Our Capella Diatonic Outdoor Xylophone has 15 Rainbow Coloured Notes and is tuned to C Major G3-G5.
Because of its diatonic arrangement, players are able to play lots of familiar or favourite tunes as well as improvising or composing their own -making it equally fun for beginners or experienced musicians and appropriate for schools and nurseries as well as care homes and senior centres.
The vibrantly coloured anodised notes are set to our rainbow scale and can be combined with one of our Music Books where the notes on the instruments correspond with the coloured notes on the music sheets. Players then simply follow the colours to play a well-known song.
Good things come in threes! Research has proven that things that come in three are inherently more satisfying and more effective than any other number of things. Our Tutti outdoor xylophone is no exception.
The Tutti is a triad of xylophones, with cascades of notes made from three different materials, securely fixed to a single post, becoming one ‘super-instrument’- perfect for playing with a couple of friends.
The notes of aluminium, GRP and Paduak each offer different sustain and tonal properties. The single post makes installation easy and quicker than installing three separate instruments plus it is also convenient if you’re short on space.
